Celebrate Australia this summer with reading, art, prizes, animals - you name it! We have all the fun you need for those long lazy days of summer...

Phyllis Marsh Art Program

Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30 P.M.

Join Phyllis, long time art teacher, for an artist's discovery of Australian art.  You'll be amazed at the projects you'll do! Art work will be displayed on a clothesline in the Community Meeting Room for all to see.  You may attend one or all of the sessions.  Sign up is required and classes fill up fast, so call right away!  964-8401

   

Trivia Questions and Prizes - weekly

We'll have Australian-themed trivia questions each week - win a prize if you find the correct answer! 

   

Beading with Lisa Beadza! 

July 29th @ 6:30 P.M.

Make a bracelet or other beaded jewelry!  Call to sign up.  964-8401

   

Drop-In Crafts - weekly

Each week, please come in and make an Australian-themed craft to take home!

   

Garden Club!!   2nd Tuesday Each Month / 3:30 P.M. - 5:00 P.M.

Join Pat Ritter for 1/2 hour of gardening in our newly established Children's Garden AND follow up with a fun nature project!  Please call to sign up to learn to be a botanist!  964-8401

Knitting Goes to the Dogs! Fridays @ 3:00 P.M.

Join Knitter Pam Anthony on Friday afternoons at 3:00 P.M. after you've been in the sun and need to cool down! We're focusing our knitting on making 6" x 6"squares to be sewn into dog blankets; these blankets will be for dogs in the shelters at the SPCA in Stratham.  Perfect for beginning knitters!    Statistics show that if a dog has a blanket in its kennel, it's 50% more likely to get adopted!  Here is what you need to bring:

  • Worsted weight ACRYLIC yarn
  • Size 10 needles
  • OR simply make a six by six square to donate!
   

Guessing Jar - Guess the contents of the jar and win it all!

 

Guesses will be accepted from July 21st to July 27th;  winner announced July 28th

   

Story Time and Crafts - Wednesdays @ 11:00 A.M.

We welcome 3 to 6 year olds to join us for stories, singing, dancing, finger plays, and crafts.

Check with the youth librarians to see who will be leading story time: weeks will alternate with Pat, Lisa and Margaret.  Thank you for joining us!

Canine Assisted Reading Program

Friday sessions begin @ 10:00 A.M.

Our special guest, “Hank” will sit with a young reader to listen to him or her practice and improve reading skills. Evidence indicates that for every year of reading to dogs, kids move ahead two years in school level.  Join "Hank" this summer for a 15-minute practice reading session.  Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before your turn to pick out a book, or you can bring one from home! I have no name!!  Please help to name me.  You can get entry forms beginning on July 14th from the youth librarian.  Thank you so much for helping me out - I'll feel much better when I know my own name. :)

         

6th Annual Talent Show

August 5th @ 6:30 SHARP!!

Showcase your talent at our 6th annual talent show!  Singing, dancing - we'll have it all!! 

You must sign up for this event; each act will be pre-approved, so let us know right away what you plan on doing! 


Closing Bash: Farmer Minor and Daisy the Pig!!

August 14th @ 6:30 P.M.

Oh yeah!  We'll have a pig in the library!!!  Farmer Minor will come in to read stories, and talk all about pigging out on reading! The question remains - Will Lisa kiss the pig?  Come in that evening to find out. This event will be our closing celebration for an exciting and fun summer of reading!  Sign up today so you don't miss out!  964-8401
